Chana huge imports to India


Imported Chana:Australia chana in ready delivery offered at Rs 6,700/100Kgs, down Rs 50 in the absence of millers buying at current rates and consistent supply from overseas.

Similarly, Australia chana at Mundra port also priced lower by Rs.50 to at Rs .6,650/100Kgs on dull buying.

However, commodity in forward business for December shipment ruled flat at Rs.6,400/100Kgs. In the similar manner commodity for January shipment also remained unchanged at Rs.5,700/100Kgs.


Chana supply had already started in Karnataka, Maharashtra and Gujarat and arrivals pressure is expected to gain momentum between February-end or by March-mid. Demand of chana dal and besan had shifted to matar dal and besan due to their cheaper prices. Further, rabi sowing had improved last week compared to similar period of last year 

In Delhi, rates for Australia origin chana edged lower by Rs.50 at Rs.7,100-7,150/100Kgs due to poor buying from mills.

On the other hand, chana quoted lower by Rs.100 at Rs.7,000/100Kgs at the benchmark market of Indore in Madhya Pradesh amid sluggish demand despite negligible stock.
